Pizza Domenica, New Orleans
Chef Morgan Angelle grew up in Breaux Bridge, LA with a huge Cajun family. Everyone lived close to one another, cooked together and of course shared meals together. She has memories of attending traditional boucheries and visiting farms in her community, and at the age of 19, Morgan decided to be the first person in her family to pursue cooking as a career.
Morgan left her hometown to attend culinary school in New Orleans, but returned home to work after graduation. When a family friend opened a pizza restaurant, she accepted a job as their chef and learned the art of pizza making. After leaving the pizza making business for a while, Morgan decided that she wanted to work at Domenica.
Chef Alon Shaya asked Morgan to come down to New Orleans and work with him at Domenica. When Alon introduces her to guests, he says, “This is Morgan. She’s a real live cajun.” She helped the team at PIZZA domenica open the new restaurant and then returned to Domenica. After some time, Morgan once again returned to PIZZA domenica to lead the team as the Chef de Cuisine.
Morgan loves working at the uptown location because she likes the communal and lively atmosphere and the open dining room where she get to constantly interact with guests enjoying her food.
