Supported by the Emeril Lagasse Foundation since 2006, New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts is in the midst of preparing for the graduation of another four-year Culinary Arts class.
On May 3, in celebration of this achievement, NOCCA’s own Chef Dana Tuohy joined Chef Emeril Lagasse along with recent graduates and current culinary students to create a gourmet, multi-course dinner in the name of inspiration, mentorship and success.
Emeril and Alden, Dennis Cakebread of Cakebread Cellars and NOCCA donated the dinner as part of an auction package from last year’s signature fundraising event Carnival du Vin. Thirty generous couples enjoyed a welcome reception and a four-course dinner that featured hand-selected wine pairings presented by Dennis Cakebread. Prepared by NOCCA culinary students, courses included Vietnamese-style seafood salad, barnyard oyster patties, crispy pork shank and ended on a sweet note with cardamom pavlova.
The Emeril Lagasse Foundation is proud to support special occasions like this that showcase the positive impact beneficiaries like NOCCA are making on youth in the culinary arts. You can read a NOCCA success story here.
