Meet Janeè

Janeè joined the NOCCA culinary summer program in 2010. Her love of cooking (inspired by her grandmother) made the decision an easy one. She exceled in the program and in 2010, she was a winner in the “A Dish that Makes a Difference” recipe contest with her Louisiana Surf & Turf, Grilled Ribeye with Seafood Mashed Potatoes and Cajun Crab Boiled Asparagus dish. Her dish was sold at Emeril’s restaurants across the country and marked a monumental moment in the teenager’s life.

Janee’s skills and passion for culinary arts led her to Emeril’s alma mater of Johnson & Wales, which opened many doors for her. With the help of the Foundation, she was able to travel to Italy for four weeks attending classes and working as Front of House manager in a student run restaurant

In May 2013, Janee’ graduated Magna Cum Laude with an Associate’s degree in Culinary Arts and in February 2015 graduated early as Cum Laude with a Bachelor's Degree in Food Service Management. She returned to New Orleans and now works at Emeril’s flagship restaurant of the same name. She hopes to start her own catering business one day and become a world renowned chef like her idol, Chef Emeril.

I am extremely blessed and thankful for NOCCA and also the Emeril Lagasse Foundation for all of their support of my career and education at Johnson & Wales University.

“As a proud NOCCA graduate, I have to say that this wonderful school has opened up so many amazing opportunities for me! NOCCA is one of the reasons why I currently have a full time position at Emeril's Restaurant!!! I am extremely blessed and thankful for NOCCA and also the Emeril Lagasse Foundation for all of their support of my career and education at Johnson & Wales University. Because of NOCCA and the ELF, while prospering in my JWU studies I've had the opportunity to complete a 6 month internship at Disney World in Orlando, FL during my Sophomore year; I've been blessed to study abroad in Italy for 1 month during my Junior year and now I hold my Associate's degree in Culinary Arts and my Bachelor's degree in Foodservice Management. With all of these great experiences added to my resume, I know my future holds success! One day, I truly aspire to be just like Chef Emeril as he is my role model!
